My name is Jim Lewis, and I have been a teacher in Western Wayne Schools since 1987. I currently teach 6th grade math and Social Studies, but started as a 6th grade teacher at the old Central Elementary. I taught 6th grade at Pershing the final year it was open, and was one of the original 6th grade teachers to make the switch from the elementary to the middle school.
Personal Background
I grew up on the east side of Indianapolis, and attended Warren schools through my freshmen year. I completed high school at Knightstown. I was involved in football, wrestling, and track. I was all conference, set the school record in the discus, and was mvp of my track team during my senior year. I was also a delegate to Boys State, as well as senior class president. I enjoy reading, writing, and classic movies. I have enjoyed sharing some of these classics during a movie club that I have frequently sponsored.
I attended Taylor University while earning my teaching degree and completed my masters degree at Ball State.
I majored in elementary education, and did my student teaching in second and fifth grade. I enjoy using my creativity, experience, and strong desire to help my students learn. Every day is a new challenge and I enjoy that.
